Antipeptide antibody was purified from eggs collected from chickens injected with a KLH-conjugated peptide corresponding to a sequence shared between the mouse (NP_001020102) and human (NP_001076044) gene products. These antibodies have been validated with human, mouse and rat tissues.
Volume: 1000 µL
Concentration: 100 µg/mL
Clonality: Polyclonal
Host Species: Chicken
Species Reactivity:Human, Mouse, Rat
Applications: ICC, IHC
Protein Name / Synonyms: RNA binding protein fox-1 homolog 3 (Fox-1 homolog C) (Neuronal nuclei antigen) (NeuN antigen)
Target Description: Human Neu-N (Fox 3) is a 33,873 dalton (312 amino acid) RNA-binding protein. This protein is found in the nuclei of virtually all post-mitotic central and peripheral neurons and has been used extensively as a general neuronal marker. In these studies, Neu-N (Fox 3) stains neuronal nuclei relatively uniformly, except in the region of the nucleolus, providing a distinctive donut (i.e., torus) shape. Since this antigen is not seen in the cytoplasm, it offers the advantage of being useful in co-immunostaining studies with rabbit and mouse antibodies against various cytoplasmic neuronal antigens.
Gene ID: RBFOX3
Antibody Registry ID (RRID): AB_2313556
Physical State: Liquid
Production Notes: Hens were immunized with a synthetic peptide-keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) conjugate. This synthetic peptide corresponded to the Fox-3 gene product (also known as the Neu-N antigen), but was shared between the human NP_001076044, NCBI) and mouse (NP_001020102, NCBI) sequences. After repeated injections into the hens, immune eggs were collected, and the IgY fractions were purified from the yolks. These IgY fractions were then affinity-purified using a peptide column, the concentrations of the eluate adjusted to 100 µg/mL, and the preparation filter-sterilized.
Validation and Application Notes
Molecular Weight: 46, 48 kDa
IHC Dilution Range: 1:1000-1:2000
Storage
Store at 4˚C in the dark. Under these conditions, the antibodies should have a shelf life of at least 12 months (provided they remain sterile).Do not freeze these antibodies unless you want to store them for longer periods of time. Note, however, that each time an antibody preparation is frozen, about half of its binding activity is lost.
