This antipeptide antibody was generated in chickens against a sequence shared between the mouse (Q03059) and human (P28329) gene products. The antibody was affinity-purified, and its concentration was adjusted to 100 µg/mL. This antibody has been validated with human, mouse and rat tissues.
Volume: 1000 µL
Concentration: 100 µg/mL
Clonality: Polyclonal
Host Species: Chicken
Species Reactivity:Human, Mouse, Rat
Applications: ICC, IHC
Protein Name / Synonyms: Choline O-acetyltransferase (CHOACTase) (ChAT) (Choline acetylase) (EC 2.3.1.6)
Target Description: Murine choline-O-acetyltransferase (EC 2.3.1.6) is a 71,721 dalton protein (640 amino acids) expressed in cholinergic neurons of both the PNS and CNS. In the CNS, ChAT is expressed in motor neurons and pre-ganglionic autonomic neurons of the spinal cord, a subset of neurons in the neostriatum, and in the basal forebrain. In the PNS, ChAT is expressed in a small subpopulation of sympathetic neurons and in all parasympathetic neurons. ChAT is the enzyme responsible for synthesis of acetylcholine from acetyl-coenzyme A and choline.
Gene ID: CHAT
Antibody Registry ID (RRID): AB_2313537
Physical State: Liquid
Production Notes: Chickens were immunized with a synthetic peptide / keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) conjugate. The peptide corresponded to a region of the Choline Acetyltransferase gene product shared between the human (P28329, NCBI) and mouse (Q03059, NCBI) sequences. After repeated injections, immune eggs were collected, the IgY fractions were purified from the yolks, and then affinity-purified using a peptide column. The concentrations of the eluates were then adjusted to 100 µg/mL, and the preparation was filter-sterilized.
Validation and Application Notes
Western Blot Dilution Range: Not Recommended
IHC Dilution Range: 1:1000-1:2000
Quality Control
Quality assurance analysis was performed using immunohistochemistry (at a dilution of 1:2000) using fluorescein-labeled goat anti-chicken IgY (1:500 dilution, Aves Labs Cat.# F-1005) as the secondary reagent.
Storage
Store at 4°C in the dark. Under these conditions, the antibodies should have a shelf life of at least 12 months (provided they remain sterile). Do not freeze these antibodies unless you want to store them for longer periods of time. Note, however, that each time an antibody preparation is frozen, about half of its binding activity is lost.
NOTE
Aves Labs products are intended for use as research laboratory reagents. They are not intended for use as diagnostic or therapeutic reagents in humans.
